Traumatology (from Greek "Trauma" meaning injury or wound) is the study of wounds and injuries caused by accidents or violence to a person, and the surgical therapy and repair of the damage.
Department of traumatology works independently since 2001. Department is located on the 4th floor of the internal pavilion.
The department provides care 24 hours a day. In the outpatient centre there are located two trauma outpatient clinics. In 2009 there were treated nearly 17,000 outpatients in this clinics.
In this area there is situated emergency workplace too, where are treated seriously injured patients. Planned and emergency surgeries are performed on the central operating rooms. In 2009 the department carried out 1215 operations by 1614 hospitalized patients.
In the context of complex care of injuries, including multiple injuries, use the department the latest technology, including magnetic resonance.
